As the saying goes, from little things big things grow. Not only is that true for our dancers, it’s also true for our dance school. Dance Kix started as a little idea at a BBQ in the summer of 2015, and has grown to become a beautiful community of like minded, kind and free spirited dancers.
From humble beginnings of 3 classes a week and 31 students in April 2016, fast forward to 2024 and we now run 22 classes a week and have waiting lists!
From the very start, Dance Kix was more than just dance and performing arts. Yes, providing quality dance tuition is the foundation of a dance school, but more than that, to help each child see their own potential by nurturing positive self image. Our ‘secret sauce’ is using dance as the tool to build confidence, social skills and connectedness to others. We celebrate each dancer as an individual. As parents, you know it’s important to develop a balance between a healthy body and a healthy mind – in this way kids grow to be self assured rather than seeking validation from others, or comparing themselves to others and changing who they are to fit in. Helping kids have the confidence to just be themselves, is what it’s all about at Dance Kix!
Another reason for starting Dance Kix was to provide a very high level of service to our community, and to make it easy for parents. My vision was to offer parents a sense of comfort and reassurance that their child would be safe and cared for when they were at class, by keeping parents well informed. We’re very big on regular, clear communication because as a working parent, I know what it’s like to juggle 10 balls in the air! It’s not easy! Dance Kix is well known for being super organised. We take the pressure off parents by making it simple and parents appreciate that.
The talented team at Dance Kix are hand picked because they share the same passion and vision in providing an outstanding service to our community. They love teaching dance and sparking joy in our students. When you watch one of our teachers in action, it’s clear to see that they love what they do and care so much for each and every student.
As the owner of Dance Kix, my goal was to provide our students with enhanced confidence to be themselves, to build friendships and provide an environment where they can express themselves freely in a healthy way, and be happy!
Building Dance Kix to what it is today hasn’t been without its challenges (Covid for one..) and it’s taken a lot of hard work! In 2022 I decided to take the reins of the studio. I wanted to continue the legacy that was once built. I’m proud to have something very special for our community and I know that I will continue to provide outstanding service to all who pass the studio doors. I hope that families will lookback 10 years from now and say that joining Dance Kix was one of the best decisions they made.
Dance Kix is more than a dance studio, it’s a dance family!
