Helping people find the ‘joy’ of dance and performance art has always been a driving force behind teaching for Donna.

Successful leadership and ongoing personal development is important to the success of Dance Kix, and being a member of the Dance Studio Owners Association (inner circle mastermind group) continually helps to keep that fire burning for Donna. This group is comprised of leading dance studio owners from across the globe who share learnings, advice and meet twice annually for intense training summits. The learnings from this group is openly shared to our ‘Dream team’ of staff through regular training sessions, coaching and mentoring.

Always a little groover, Donna started dancing like many of our Dance Kix students — as a Tiny Tot! Her interest in Jazz, Contemporary and Tap quickly took form and her dance journey began. Competing in numerous eisteddfods and exams under the Commonwealth Society of Teachers of Dancing (CSTD) led to teaching and competition choreography for her local dance school in Perth WA.

Although dancing will always be her passion, Music Theatre and the dream of being on the big stage became a major focus. In 2005 Donna completed a Bachelor of Arts in Drama, whilst teaching Drama for a well known Children’s Drama Academy in Perth. After many many vocal lessons, auditions and amateur theatre performances in WA and the U.K, she was accepted into the Music Theatre program at the Western Australian Academy of Performing Arts (WAAPA), where she rubbed shoulders with a few famous Australian actors!

Donna has experience in choreographing for local entertainment, musicals and national productions;

• 2017 GECC’s Chitty Chitty Bang Bang as Choreographer for the cast of 65.
• 2018 team of 15 Dance Kix students to Brisbane to perform at the Channel 9 Lord Mayor’s Christmas Carols at Riverstage.
• 2018 GECC Christmas Street Party, multiple performances
• 2017/2018 bespoke choreography and performance team created for Rio Tinto annual Christmas Party at GECC.
• 2019 Rotary Club Fundraising Flappers Ball bespoke choreography and performance team

Q1. What inspires you? People who have courage to get in the arena and play big! They are often active learners, generous of spirit, unafraid to be vulnerable and practice gratitude daily. I aspire to stand amongst those people.

Q5. Favourite quote? ‘Be like water’ – Bruce Lee. To me this means flowing with the ups and downs of life, it means being fluid and ever changing, it means being reflective and because water is a basic human need, it means honouring the need for self care and the care of those around me.
