I begged my Mum to put me in dance classes!  I would twirl and leap at any possibility I could get – shopping isles, church and even down the street.  In fact, it has been said that I could dance before I could walk.

Mum finally caved and I went to my first dance class at age 6.  Since then, I’ve competed in numerous eisteddfods, attended workshops and auditions across Queensland, including Claudia Dean, Riley Baldwin, QLD Ballet and many more.

At age 13, I began student teaching at my dance studio, up until my final years of schooling, where I completed my Certificate IV in Dance and Management.  Once I graduated, I was off to Brisbane to complete my Diploma in Elite Commercial Performance, learning from some of the industries top professionals.

I knew dance was always going to be a part of my life and being able to share my love and experience with students, I consider to be such a privilege and a blessing every day.

Hear from Lilly:

Q1. What inspires you? The teachers and dancers that have encouraged and taught me along every step of the way has really helped shape me into the dancer I am today.  I respect my parents and the lessons they’ve taught me, in that in order to achieve and succeed in life you have to work hard at what you want in life, and never take for granted the opportunities presented to you.

Q2. What is your favourite song? Dream – Priscilla Ahn

Q3. What do you love about your job? I love seeing students become so comfortable and happy in an environment where they be themselves – doing what they love.  Seeing the pure delight on their faces when they perfect a move or learn something new, and getting to experience the joy they have for dance with them is such a reward.

Q4. A word to describe Dance Kix? Inclusive.

Q5. What’s your favourite quote? I see dance as being a communication between the body and soul, to express what is too deep to find for words.
